Ismail Rahim Alternative Workshop (IRAW) is a design practice that blurs the boundaries between architecture, art, and nature. Founded by Ismail Rahim, a Master of Architecture graduate from Universiti Teknologi MARA (LAM Part 2, RIBA Part 2), IRAW is driven by a commitment to contextual sensitivity and experimental design thinking.

With four years of professional experience at CL+O Architect, Ismail developed a deep understanding of architecture that is both responsive and enduring. Beyond conventional practice, he actively engages with the creative public as a member of the Malaysian Artist Intention Experiment (MAIX), exploring intersections between art, space, and cultural narratives.

IRAW approaches architecture as an evolving dialogue—one that respects the site, embraces material honesty, and challenges conventional spatial experiences. Each project is conceived through a lens of critical regionalism, integrating contemporary methods with a deep appreciation for local craftsmanship and environmental harmony.
